Addvalue and Viasat Join Forces to Simplify Real-time Inter-satellite Connectivity for U.S. Government Fleets

The agreement positions Viasat to deliver Addvalue's IDRS™ capability for U.S. government customers through its orbital communications portfolio for a low-latency space-based relay service.

Salt Lake City, Utah, August 25, 2026: Addvalue Solutions Pte Ltd a wholly-owned subsidiary of Addvalue Innovation Pte Ltd, today announced an agreement with Viasat, Inc. to deliver its Inter-satellite Data Relay Service (IDRS™) to U.S. Government customers through Viasat's HaloNet™ managed service offering. 

Satellite operators have long struggled to maintain continuous connectivity and custody of low Earth orbit (LEO) spacecraft. Communication between a LEO satellite and its ground stations is restricted to brief, periodic intervals throughout the day. An onboard IDRS terminal, connected through Viasat's geostationary Earth orbit (GEO) L-band network, is designed to keep owners in contact with their assets around the clock, for up to 99% of every orbit, all with latency of under two seconds. This changes what mission operators can achieve, with continuous access enabling: 

  • tasking a satellite the moment a requirement emerges rather than at the next scheduled window
  • downlinking time-critical data while it is still time critical, and
  • diagnosing and responding to an anomaly in real time instead of waiting hours to investigate what went wrong in space 

Under the agreement, announced at SmallSat 2026, Viasat will take the lead role in U.S. Government and U.S. Government supplier market opportunities, where IDRS can be delivered as part of a trusted U.S. government-facing solution. Viasat will integrate Addvalue's IDRS terminals and services into the Viasat HaloNet portfolio as a single, U.S.-delivered offering. 

The arrangement is designed to simplify procurement and support for government customers, allowing them to receive terminals, airtime, integration, and mission support through Viasat, a proven and trusted U.S. government supplier and managed services provider. 

IDRS is in commercial service today with Earth observation operators, smallsat constellation operators, and in-orbit servicing and space logistics providers: missions where responsiveness, not just capacity, determines operational value.

For decades, access to a satellite has been dictated by when the satellite could see the ground. We believe the future should be the other way around. In the emerging space economy, operators should be able to communicate with their assets whenever the mission requires, not when orbital constraints permit. Through this collaboration with Viasat, we are bringing together complementary strengths to make that vision a reality for U.S. Government customers. This agreement formalizes our continued partnership with Addvalue to enable continuous connectivity for satellite operations and missions. Integrating IDRS as part of our portfolio of Viasat HaloNet services will provide the low-latency relay connectivity support U.S. government missions need through a simplified structure, IDRS helps us provide always on, real-time, on-demand in-orbit communications for mission tasking and data transport. This rapid tasking connectivity network will drastically reduce the time customers wait to receive critical observation and mission data, while leveraging Viasat’s trusted government care center and infrastructure to ensure mission success.

Addvalue will continue to develop and supply IDRS terminals and services and retains ownership of its IDRS technology. The agreement also allows Viasat to offer IDRS capability under its own branding, identified as “IDRS™-enabled by Addvalue.
